The celebrated gospel artiste Bahati (“Mtoto wa mama”) is not your average celebrity. Despite his huge success, he has remained humble, approachable and compassionate for others.

To keep up with his spirit of caring and compassionate for the needy, especially street kids and orphans, Bahati has launched a philanthropic foundation aimed at helping street kids get access to education.

The Bahati Tena Foundation was launched in Nairobi on Wednesday May 4, 2016 in a party involving thousands of street kids.

Through the foundation, Bahati targets to take 20 street kids to school annually. But that is not all.

This comes after Bahati adopted three orphans Morgan, Rose, and Purity. Because he is not able to adopt any more kids, Bahati instead decided to start the foundation.

“…every week I get unknown visitors knocking my Door especially Street kids but watu wangu Simnajaua siwezi adopt watoi zaidi…But Finally God has made it possible Today I had Lunch with Thousands of Street Kids From Nairobi Area as I involved them in Launching my Foundation,” Bahati wrote on Instagram.
The foundation is part of the singer’s determination and promise to God to help the needy, “Before I became Bahati, I promised God when he lifts me up, I’ll always remember where I came from. And always share with the needy, especially the orphaned.”

Writing on Instagram, Bahati also disclosed his plan to start Bahati Tena Children’s’ Home in a few months.

Bahati became orphaned at a tender age and ended up at a children’s home in Nairobi’s Mathare slums before he later got adapted.
